Headline News - That Little Place wins Best Restaurant in St Albans Food and Drink Awards! - full details here
Welcome to our new 2014 New Year season Menu. As Harpenden’s unique local restaurant our specialities include the most local prime organic beef from Harpenden’s own Hammonds End Farm and brand new bread from Redbournbury Mill. It also brings back Starters of our Cream of Vegetable Soup, our original signature of Haggis Ravioli and brand new homemade Beef Pin Wheel and Tomato relish as well as Welsh Rarebit. Our homemade local specialty Carpaccio remains as a firm favourite along with our Goats cheese cakes from our award-winning producer as featured on menus for Will and Kate, Downing Street and Buckingham Palace who also supply a brand new Wodehill Blue cheese for a tartlet with red onion and thyme marmalade.
Exciting new mains are even more local, with brand new local lamb Jamaican Lamb and Peas and local sausage Toad in the Hole joining our Harpenden Beef and Ale Pie and Beef Bourgignon. Also new are Sweetcorn and Red Pepper Fritters and Ratatouille and Trout en Papillote. Look out for our changing Specials for something even more different.
For homemade Deserts, our renowned Mousse stays in dark form as Dark Chocolate Mousse and joined by all new Caramel Cheesecake. Figgy Dowdy is an unusual old English must-try and our Bitish Cheesboard stays for the season. Our own-brewed bottle-conditioned real ale remains as popular as ever, joined by our new recipe winter brew made for the CAMRA Beer Fest.
As ever, only the freshest dishes prepared exclusively on the premises in small quantities and cooked to order are served to ensure quality. The Local Specialties section shows exactly where the food comes from to bring you the Best of British as part of our work with local producers showcasing the highest quality ingredients. Many herbs, hops, fruit and vegetables are grown or foraged by us. Our tiny roof herb garden is becoming established and guarantees even more freshness.
